Tuition per Hour for a Group

If you multiply the tuition that falls to one person by the number of students in the group, you will see that the total price for per hour for a group of private individuals at our school is well below the treacherously advertised prices (from the basic to the intermediate level) of other language schools. 

Often in language-school advertisements, they will announce what seems to be a low price – for example, “Tuitions as low as 390 HUF per hour!” What the ads fail to mention is that, in the majority of cases, they organize classes of 10-14 students. Consequently, this language school which advertises low prices (500-550 HUF per teaching hour for a beginner- or basic- or intermediate-level group) is able to rake in 6000 – 7700 HUF in tuition per hour, because there are fourteen to a class.

The argument that there are smaller classes available at the same price “for an additional fee,” we do not find ethical, since those in larger groups end up paying in total the price of a more expensive class. In our experience, a low advertised price means larger class sizes. This arrangement caters to the profits of a mercenary language school, but not the needs of the students. 

It is an everyday speculation for language schools and simple logic on the part of students that sooner or later a large group will dwindle to a smaller size. Dover Language School refutes this standpoint. We strive to insure that all our students finish the courses they have undertaken and paid for. 

At Dover Language Center, the total tuition that applies to a group is 4000 – 5800 HUF/ teaching hour (in the case of beginner or basic or intermediate classes), 4100 – 6440 forint / teaching hour (in the case of advanced groups), and 4200 – 7000 HUF/ teaching hour (for Cambridge First Certificate, Advanced, or Proficiency groups).

Outside of Dover, the latter classes are only available at another place, and that is at double the price, in a class of 10-12 students, and not better quality. Taken altogether, at Dover Language Center, we keep the total tuition for groups (per teaching hour) at an average or below average level, but we guarantee quality language instruction. 

Attention! When choosing a language school, without fail, enquire about the tuition per teaching hour and whether there will be, say, 3 or 5 or 6 or (Heaven forbid!) 10 students in the class recommended for you. Please look at our school’s Table of Tuition Fees.  > (Table of Tuition Fees)
